Through Death's Eyes

They send me away
the shadows that hunt souls
howling like winds before storm
What then shall be
for when wind dies
and leaves lay rest
What then shall sun set and moon rise upon

Aye, Death
death be it
cold and forlorning
forever reaching for embrace
but alas can not be

Nay, for death can not but hunger for heat
to feel but a spark of warmth called life as last breath fades
forever hungering while fed upon crumb
as if to be given cracker in place of loaf of bread

In turn ever stealing as many a cracker as can be obtained
like a thief taking coin so death taketh when least expect
and laugh for it is not hole that left
nay but tis longing for what can not longer be reached

For just as death can but have cracker while longing for loaf
so we in turn can but long for those lost while recalling moments past.
